On November 24, 2020, many female musicians were graced and overwhelmed with more than one gift. For the first time in history, the category of "Best Rock Performance" shines with an all female-identifying lineup of nominations. Each nominee is made up of solo or female-fronted acts. The nominees: Fiona Apple with "Shameika", Phoebe Bridgers with "Kyoto", Brittany Howard with "Stay High", Big Theif with "Not", HAIM with "The Steps", and Grace Potter with "Daylight". Fiona Apple, Phoebe Bridgers, and Brittany Howard are also nominated for "Best Rock Song", and "Best Alternative Rock Album". Musicians Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish also have a plethora of nominations this year, dominating categories like "Song of the Year", "Album of the Year". This is a beautiful "first" in music history, and it's long overdue.
