LOZENGE’S NEWEST TRACK, “BIRD’S-EYE VIEW” IS FUZZED-OUT CHAOTIC ALT SHOEGAZE
Leeds, U.K. outfit Lozengo doesn’t ease you into “Bird’s-Eye View.” They drop you straight into it. The track hits like a wall of sound, loud, dense, and a little disorienting in the best way. It feels like standing in the middle of a storm with everything crashing around you, guitars bleeding into each other while the rhythm keeps pushing forward. It’s moody, heavy, and tense all at once, never settling into one lane for too long.
There’s a real emotional weight under all that noise. “Bird’s-Eye View” balances sadness and aggression without softening either side. One moment it feels introspective, the next it’s overwhelming, like the thoughts got too loud to contain. The band describes it as a “blizzard,” and that fits. It builds, swells, and then hits in waves.
Structurally, it moves in a way that keeps you locked in. The verses feel haunted and restrained, like something simmering under the surface, before everything breaks open into a chorus that feels like a full release. It’s messy on purpose, but still controlled enough to land exactly where it needs to.
Lyrically, the track digs into identity and self-awareness, or the lack of it. It’s about that uncomfortable process of looking inward and not liking what you find. There’s no clean resolution either. It feels more like a confrontation than a conclusion.
Lozengo is made up of Joe Collinson on vocals and guitar, alongside drummer Jacob Marston, who is known for his work with HONESTY and formerly with Dead Naked Hippies. They’re now joined by bassist Joe Clarke, also formerly of Dead Naked Hippies, and that lineup feels locked in here. There’s a chemistry that lets them lean into chaos without losing control.
