Sometimes a band releases that one song that clearly marks the beginning of a new chapter. For Italian four-piece Lovedrop, “INSIDE OUT” feels like that song. Having cut their teeth on a predominantly pop-punk and emo sound with traces of post-hardcore running through their veins, the band now seems ready to go heavier.
What stands out about Lovedrop is the rollercoaster of emotions packed into each song, and “INSIDE OUT” is no exception. The chorus will have you singing along, the slower moments will hit you right in the feels, and the heavier sections will make you want to throw down. One minute it's a catchy pop-punk anthem; the next, it veers into metal territory before swinging right back into emo. That's a lot of different energies crammed into one track, but Lovedrop somehow makes it all work.
Lead vocalist Maria Zancope effortlessly shifts between melodic singing and full-throated screams, while the rest of the band show the chemistry needed to pull off a song with so many twists and turns without losing its identity.
With “INSIDE OUT,” Lovedrop are clearly exploring new musical territory, incorporating more metal influences without abandoning the sound that got them here. Lyrically, the track tackles emotional dependency and the struggle of being caught between letting go and holding on to someone who's hurt you. That push and pull runs through the music, even in its catchiest, most sing-along moments.
