FERALCITY AND WOUNDS OF RECOLLECTION COLLIDE ON GENRE-BENDING NEW SINGLE “GLOW”

Two men. Two bands. Two different sounds. One tremendous song.

Ethan Taylor, the creative force behind the eclectic band feralcity, has teamed up with Annos, the mastermind behind Wounds of Recollection, for “Glow,” a genre-bending collaboration that blurs the lines between progressive metal, shoegaze, emo, and atmospheric black metal.

What makes “Glow” so interesting is just how unpredictable it is. The track opens with an almost emo-like atmosphere before shifting into riff-heavy metal guitars, then guttural vocals, and finally settling into a dreamy shoegaze passage. Just when you think you've figured out where it's headed, the song erupts into a black metal finale that jolts you right back to attention.

“Glow” certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's part of its appeal. Taylor and Annos aren't interested in playing it safe or appealing to the widest possible audience. Instead, they've carved out a peculiar little corner of the heavy music world where contrasting styles collide, even if the results occasionally catch you off guard.

While “Glow” draws on a wide range of influences, it sits firmly in blackgaze, where the atmospheric beauty of shoegaze meets the raw intensity of black metal. The transitions between styles can feel a little awkward at times, but there's something refreshing about a song that isn't afraid to take a few risks.

Ultimately, Taylor and Annos bring the distinct worlds of feralcity and Wounds of Recollection together, delivering an emotional rollercoaster of melodic riffs, hazy atmospheres, contrasting vocals, and unexpected twists. It may not be the smoothest ride from start to finish, but it's certainly an interesting one.
