JADED DELIVER A MASSIVE ALT-ROCK BANGER WITH “DON’T LET ME DOWN”
San Francisco Bay Area newcomers Jaded are making one hell of an introduction with their new single, “Don’t Let Me Down.” The track is easily one of the tastiest alternative and hard rock mashups these, forgive the pun, jaded ears have heard in ages.
Propelled by a gargantuan guitar riff and epic harmonies, “Don’t Let Me Down” hits with the same immediate rush that made 311’s classic “Beautiful Disaster” such a standout. There’s a groove underneath all that muscle, too, with funky bass lines and some seriously satisfying ride cymbal work holding everything together while the guitars are busy ripping holes through time and space.
And those guitars absolutely rip. Jaded aren’t afraid to shred when the song calls for it, but “Don’t Let Me Down” never turns into a showcase of technical ability at the song's expense. For all its heaviness and guitar heroics, there’s a massive hook sitting right in the middle of it.
The vocals are warm, inviting, and ridiculously easy to sing along with, giving the track an accessibility that could easily pull in listeners from well outside the heavier side of rock. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to crank the volume, grab the nearest imaginary guitar, and embarrass yourself accordingly.
That balance might be Jaded’s biggest strength here. “Don’t Let Me Down” feels heavy enough for someone raised on Metallica, melodic enough for a Weezer fan, and groovy enough to scratch that 311 itch without sounding like a carbon copy of any of them.
