HOW TO DRESS WELL’S NEW SINGLE “CRYPT SUSTAIN” IS AN EXAMPLE OF TRUE ARTISTRY

How to Dress Well is setting the bar extremely high for new artists. Their single, “Crypt Sustain,” perfectly pushes the envelope. There are techniques and tricks borrowed from shoegaze, true punk rock, and even hyperpop. Fans of 100 Gecs may recognize little sprinkles of sonic fairy dust throughout the track.

The guitar tones alone are pure magic. How To Dress Well is tackling tough topics; this song is indicative of the frontman’s neurodivergent brother’s artistic journey. The soundscape represents this well, as the song sounds as colorful as I assume his brother’s imagination is.

Energetically, it is triumphant and empowering without being cheesy. Motivational anthems tend to do the same tricks, but How To Dress Well avoids these avenues, instead leveraging their prowess more uniquely.

I hope that How to Dress Well continues to follow the beat of their drummer. Their creative prowess alone is admirable, and this single has earned them at least one new fan.
