Metal enthusiasts conquered the House of Blues in Anaheim this week as Metal Allegiance took center stage with their electrifying lineup. Coinciding with the bustling NAMM Expo, the event attracted diverse fans, musicians, and photographers, all contributing to an atmosphere brimming with anticipation and excitement.
To support Metal Allegiance was Wicked, a band that channels the spirit of hair metal with gusto. Their set was a high-energy display of flair and magnetism, combining the nostalgic essence of glam rock with a fresh, modern approach. Their playful and engaging performance brought a sense of joy and nostalgia, energizing the audience and setting a lively tone.
The room’s energy surged to new heights when Metal Allegiance emerged on stage. This supergroup of metal icons delivered a nearly two-hour performance that showcased their technical prowess and their deep-rooted passion for the genre. The star-studded lineup featured luminaries such as Troy Sanders of Mastodon, David Sanchez of Havok, John Bush of Armored Saint, and many more. Each artist brought their unique presence to the stage, resulting in a diverse and seamlessly cohesive performance, celebrating the breadth of metal music. My favorite part of the night was shooting “Bound by Silence” feat. John Bush is in the pit.
As a special treat, Rob Trujillo, Metallica’s legendary bassist, made a surprise appearance, joining the ensemble near the end of the night for a jaw-dropping experience. The unexpected collaboration sent the audience into a frenzy, elevating the night to an unforgettable climax.
More than just a concert, the evening was a celebration of metal’s enduring legacy and the tight-knit community that surrounds it. Bolstered by the synergy of NAMM attendees and the camaraderie in the air, Metal Allegiance reaffirmed their status as a cornerstone of the metal world. The show was a masterclass and a gathering of legends and fans united in their love for the genre. It was an unforgettable night that left everyone in the room inspired and exhilarated.
