HOLLOW YOUTH DIVE INTO DARKNESS ON NEW SINGLE “ABYSS AND OBLIVION”

Abyss and Oblivion,” the newest offering from metalcore newcomers Hollow Youth, blends razor-sharp metal harmonies with a full-throttle hardcore spirit, making it clear that the band is not here to play it safe. The track builds on the momentum they have gathered since their formation, crashing into the metal and hardcore scene with the chaotic enthusiasm of an underclassman sneaking into a senior party.

Like a kid on Christmas morning who cannot decide which present to open first, vocalist Tom Domaille swings between guttural growls and soaring melodies as if he is running through an entire vocal warm-up in real time. With its shifting dynamics and no-nonsense lyrics, “Abyss and Oblivion” wastes no time and carries no excess. It launches aggressively, eases off the throttle just long enough to let some melody shine through, then slams right back into its hardcore pulse. The stop-and-go rhythm is punctuated by a few well-placed breakdowns, including a particularly nasty one around the two-minute mark that demands a headbang. Odd time signatures keep the listener guessing, while thick, chugging riffs hit hard enough to drop your guard.

The ending collapses into beautiful chaos, the perfect conclusion for a track that never stops twisting and turning.

Although Hollow Youth only formed in 2022, they sound like a band that has been refining its chemistry for years. “Abyss and Oblivion” is another substantial addition to their growing catalog of heavy, emotionally charged music, evoking early Counterparts or A Day to Remember without ever feeling derivative.

Give Hollow Youth a little more time, and they will be undeniable.

“Abyss and Oblivion” is the second single from the band’s upcoming debut full-length album, due in early 2026.
