“HIT THE GROUND” BY POST-PUNK BAND IT’S FOR US COULD BECOME A GOTH CLUB STAPLE
It’s For Us is a dynamic post-punk group from Sweden. Their sound uses incredibly classic techniques to create a vibrant, full mix. They are successfully calling back to a sound design that reigned king in the 80s and 90s. “Hit The Ground” would do exceptionally well in a lineup like Cruel World, next to familiar faces like She Wants Revenge.
Ambient, gritty guitar tones complement the moving rhythm section of the song. The vocalist’s ear for emphasis brings out key lyrical elements, despite heavy reverb as per the genre’s usual techniques.
Most artists are keen to shift between genres, mixing elements until they find something that fits just right. “Hit The Ground” encapsulates this phenomenon. could imagine locals dancing to this at Bar Sinister in LA. However, I could also picture it gracing Alt Rock radio stations that tend to lean towards poppier tunes but want to diversify their catalog.
This is the second single in ‘It’s For Us’ LP rollout. A full-length LP with this kind of production value and vibe has the potential to get new listeners interested in a genre that deserves to finally receive its flowers from the masses.
