“GOLDEN HANDS” BY WAYS OF SEEING OPENS DOORS TO DEEPER SELF AWARENESS

The lush, clean, spacious, and atmospheric production style of “Golden Hands” greets the listener upon hearing it immediately with something familiar and also seductively inviting. The Cork, Ireland native James O’Donnell is the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of his project, Ways of Seeing. If there is a musical touchstone it would be something out of the 1980s there will be some of the best and most memorable acts of the period. In particular who comes to mind instantly, and rightly so, is Tears For Fears. It is a somber yet somehow uplifting track ruminating on looking beyond the surface of the illusion of “shiny golden exteriors” and symbolizing “cutting ties” i.e. “Golden Hands.” There is an urgent yearning and desire to meaningfully probe, question, and dig further into the purpose of life as to what is truly real and important.
