NOT THE AUTHOR SHOW THEIR BITE ON HEAVY NEW SINGLE “CAUSE AND EFFECT”

With “Cause and Effect,” post-hardcore rockers Not The Author set the tone for their upcoming EP with a track that combines tough riffs with infectious melodies. The pride of Sudbury, Ontario, are doing what every promising young band should: taking the foundation they’ve built and gradually expanding, refining and improving their sound with each new release.

One of the biggest highlights of “Cause and Effect” is the dual-guitar work featured prominently throughout the track. From the opening intro to the massive chorus, a tasty guitar solo and the chunky conclusion that brings everything together, the guitars give the song plenty of personality without sacrificing its melodic side.

The vocals are another strength. Lead singer Jamie Rowlings delivers clean vocals throughout most of the track, giving “Cause and Effect” an accessible edge before switching gears toward the end. That’s when Rowlings lets some nasty aggression loose, reminding everyone that underneath those melodies, Not The Author still have plenty of bite.

Despite releasing music for only a relatively short time, Not The Author already possess the skill and chemistry of a much more experienced band. That’s not to say there isn’t room to continue growing, but the foundation is clearly there. More importantly, the group has a natural chemistry that simply can’t be taught.
