FOOTBALLHEAD RETURNS WITH HEAVY NEW SINGLE, “FACE TO FACE,” AHEAD OF NATIONWIDE TOUR WITH ONESTEPCLOSER

Chicago DIY group Footballhead has come a long way in a short time! Something of a supergroup, the band has faced lineup changes but still managed to retain and develop its signature sound. Their latest effort, “Face To Face,” is their heaviest single to date, complete with guttural screams from typically timid frontman Ryan Nolen.

Initially Nolen’s solo bedroom project, the group naturally progressed into a fully-fledged touring band. Beginning efforts, like opening slots for Say Anything, secured the group a solid local fan base. They act as a bridge between worlds, reminding us all of the fluidity of rock as a larger genre. Their newer hardcore sound feels like a natural next step for the group rather than forcing themselves into shoes they don’t fit.

Solid guitar work and building bass lines solidify “Face To Face” as an incredibly strong single, perhaps their best work. Newfound confidence isn’t just found not only in Nolen’s screams but also in each guitar chord and bass note. This was teamwork, and it is audible throughout the track.

Footbalhead already puts on an incredible show, but incorporating songs like “Face To Face” into their setlist will make them stronger performers. It’s both visible and audible when artists love what they’re playing, and that’s always been prevalent in Footballhead. This new chapter only signifies more growth for the band.
