Fontaines D.C. have been touring Australia in support of their album Romance, but they took a break to swing by triple j's Like A Version studio and cover Bring Me The Horizon's "Can You Feel My Heart." And, let’s just say, they didn't exactly keep it as is.

Stripping away the heavy guitars, the band turned the track into a dreamy synth journey. But here’s the kicker—toward the end, frontman Grian Chatten casually decided to sing some lines from Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box." Yep, he just mashed up two musical eras like it was no big deal.

“It was Grian’s idea initially, and I think the sound of that song — the electronic elements and just the general vibe of it — reflects stuff that we were touching on on our last album Romance,” states guitarist Conor Curley of the Bring Me The Horizon cover. “So it seemed like a good place to start, and it’s a moody, beautiful song.

“‘Heart-Shaped Box’ is an absolute classic,” he continues. “Grian just started singing it when we were getting the sounds, and it was almost like, ‘Do we switch it to that and use the instrumentation?’ So, it kind of just made sense.”

Check out Fontaines D.C.'s moody, unexpectedly brilliant cover of “Can You Feel My Heart” by Bring Me The Horizon below. You won’t see that combo coming.
