FIME’S NEW SINGLE “BETTER HALF OF A DOLLAR” IS PERFECTLY TOPICAL

Though transplants, Fime effortlessly captures the spirit of LA. Their relentless pursuit of their dreams has led them to this glorious side project, which flows as naturally as the LA River would—if not for the city’s perpetual drought. Their single, “Better Half of a Dollar,” is for everyone.

Most people feel corporate greed's effects—pinching pennies while executives live lavishly in penthouses. But spite is a hell of a drug, and Fime doesn’t just get high on it; they use it as fuel. Their gritty, scrappy electric guitars and wild-running riffs perfectly complement the song’s resonant lyricism.

As a bonus, the music video features the band cruising around the city in my dream car. I’m not a car gal (sorry, dear readers), but I’ve been yearning for a white convertible BMW for years—and I don’t even have my license. This small, personal detail is a perfect nod to the song’s message: we’re all striving for something we may never get. And yet, something keeps us moving forward.

Fime’s uniquely personal take on a universal experience creates an authentic soundscape and a profound world for their themes to live in. Also, “Better Half of a Dollar” was allegedly inspired by the sheer audacity of receiving a 75-cent raise. I can do you one worse—when I worked for a gargantuan corporation in San Diego, they gave me a 10-cent raise… and threatened to fire me.

Living the dream.
