FAME HUNTER INSPIRES WITH SHOCKING NEW SINGLE “DISAPPEAR”
Look, with specific genres, it’s easy to develop a chip on your shoulder. EDM and electropop have circulated similar sounds for several decades, but Fame Hunter suggests there’s still more to unravel. Their latest single, “Disappear,” seems relatively unassuming until it shakes you to your core.
Admittedly, I was a bit jaded by the introductory “untz untz untz” beat. Of course, it surveys sweaty underground clubs, adding atmosphere while getting crowds going. However, there’s only so many times that it can be regurgitated or reformulated. So, I waited until a few more stabbing synths kicked in and realized I was in for something special.
About a quarter of the track is instrumental; however, it doesn’t feel like you’re listening to a four-minute song. Instead, different layers establish a brilliant, vibrant texture that deviates from what you might have heard before. When the vocals come in, it’s game over. They blend a Charli XCX hyper pop style with Gothicism, and it works fantastically well.
Don’t let a first impression fool you, or you might miss out on something incredibly special. “Disappear” showcases Fame Hunter’s daring musical ears, especially as they catalyze the next era of their scene.
