DOLOURS DROP STUNNING DARKWAVE TRACK “I AM THE DOG”

Dolours have just dropped a haunting new darkwave banger titled “I Am The Dog.” The fiery new track covers a hell of a lot of ground in its brief 2:15 runtime, wasting very little time before sinking its teeth in.

Walls of synths, tasty bass grooves, lockstep drum beats, distorted guitars, and psyche-invading vocals fill nearly every second of Dolours’ latest. There’s a lot happening, but nothing feels unnecessarily crammed in. Instead, each layer adds to the track's strange, hypnotic atmosphere.

Darkwave, post-punk, goth, whatever the hell you want to call their tortured sound, Dolours go all in. Their command of dynamics is especially impressive throughout “I Am The Dog.” One moment, the band has you heading straight for the dance floor, and the next, they’ve cranked up the guitars enough to have you banging your head.

That push and pull is where the song really shines. Dolours maintain the cold, mechanized pulse of electronic music and darkwave while somehow injecting plenty of grit and soul into the mix. It sounds calculated without feeling sterile and dark without becoming lifeless.

At just over two minutes, “I Am The Dog” is over almost as quickly as it begins, but Dolours squeeze a ridiculous amount into that short runtime. Throw this one on loud, turn the lights down, and let it do its thing.
