DEADRINGER IS BETTER LATE THAN NEVER ON THEIR DEBUT TRACK “WAITING ON ME”

Sacramento, CA duo deadringer have officially introduced themselves to the metal world with their debut single, “Waiting On Me,” a track that balances groovy riffs, dreamy samples, and an impressive range of vocals.

Unlike your typical metal track, “Waiting On Me” has a distinct push and pull to it. A beefy breakdown follows dreamy samples, deep growls are preceded by passionate clean vocals, and moments of pure aggression sit right next to sections that feel surprisingly laid-back. The guitars give the song its punch, while the sampling adds another layer of depth and nuance. It’s not overly riff-heavy, but it doesn’t need to be. The way everything flows together is what makes deadringer’s approach to heavy music so interesting.

At times, “Waiting On Me” sounds like it can’t decide whether it wants you to casually nod your head or start throwing bodies into a mosh pit, and that’s exactly where its charm lies. The track pushes against expectations of what a heavy song is supposed to sound like without wandering so far outside the genre that it loses its teeth.

In a scene where it’s incredibly easy for bands to start sounding like one another, deadringer are already making an effort to separate themselves from the pack. That’s a pretty damn good way to introduce yourself.
