DAZIES EMBRACE VULNERABILITY ON GROOVY NEW SINGLE "EXPOSURE"

Dazies are a Brooklyn-based band who released their latest single, “Exposure,” on July 22. The track serves as the first preview of the band’s debut album, Eyes Repeating, which arrives October 23 and features 10 songs.

The band describes its sound as “post-experimental alternative rage hipster indie swerve pop,” a fittingly chaotic label for music that refuses to sit comfortably within one genre. Dazies are led by frontman Eddie Gore, formerly of Future Generations, a band formed at Fordham University in the early 2010s.

“Exposure” blends the sweeping atmosphere of a Pink Floyd power ballad with the groove of Arctic Monkeys and a touch of Harry Styles-inspired funk. Even with those reference points, Dazies possess a soulful and distinctive sound that is difficult to compare directly to anyone else.

The accompanying music video adds another layer to the track, using visuals that perfectly capture its emotional energy. At its core, “Exposure” is about allowing yourself to be seen regardless of your circumstances. Sometimes, you simply have to turn up the exposure and embrace a more carefree way of living.

The song feels made for anyone who has ever felt defeated without knowing why, anyone with something to prove, or anyone still searching for the future they imagined as a child. With its vintage atmosphere and warm, hazy energy, “Exposure” feels like cigarettes at sunset or the soundtrack to a coming-of-age film.

It is the kind of groovy indie track that makes you want to dance around your room alone, wearing nothing but a button-down and pretending the rest of the world does not exist.
