PRO-PAIN DROP “SCORCHED EARTH” AND IT HITS HARD

New York hardcore vets Pro-Pain are back with a new single and lyric video, “Scorched Earth,” and yeah, it does exactly what you think it’s gonna do.

The track is the latest preview from their upcoming album Stone Cold Anger, out May 15 via Napalm Records, and it’s also their first full-length in over a decade. You can feel that right away. It sounds like a band that didn’t forget what they do, just picked it right back up and cranked it.

No intro, no buildup, just straight into thick riffs and that stomp they’ve always had. It’s heavy, it’s direct, and it doesn’t try to dress itself up. The band calls it a sinister but anthemic track, and that checks out. There’s definitely a hook in there, something you can shout back, but it still hits like a brick.

The groove is what carries it. Not flashy, not technical, just locked in and built for a pit. The guitars have that classic crunch, and the whole thing feels tight without being overproduced.

Lyrically, there’s a little more going on than just burn-it-all-down energy. Frontman Gary Meskil said the song is about what happens when people get pushed too far, pulling from that Falling Down type of tension where frustration just keeps building until it snaps. You can hear that in the delivery. It’s not subtle, but it doesn’t need to be.

The lyric video keeps things simple, just letting the track do its thing. No distractions.
