CORAL HEAD’S TRANCE-INFUSED “TOO LATE TO END” COMBINES INDIE ROCK, TRIP HOP, AND ALT POP

Norwegian artist/producer Coral Head’s “Too Late To End” can’t come soon enough because it’s beyond “sluggish” and “listless.” Yes, the burn is slow but tedious, making one impatient to get through the whole single. Is it “intimate”? Sure, it’s very low-key and quiet.

This track will find an audience of listeners who can appreciate and exalt the pleasures of what the bio calls “cinematic dream pop.” That is really a stretch, and yes, it’s very complimentary, but hardly worthy of that description. But, oh, the track does feel hazy, for sure, but vague would be more accurate and on target.

The lyrics are abstract and oblique, about “silent connections and emotional tension.” Minor, intriguing wordplay piques one's interest a bit here and there.

Is the track “haunting”? It depends on one’s perspective or point of view. A mood or vibe of some kind is created and present. Maybe Coral Head is deep-diving into her head, exploring these elusive connections with some “late-night introspective” that has a significant meaning for her.

Who is to say that is good or bad, or to negate her personal experiences? With a slight, placid voice and very laid-back vocal delivery, Coral Head is underwhelmed by “Too Late To End.” Still, it’s not too late to develop more compelling material for this promising, burgeoning artist on the next single or down the road.
