CLARIO’S SOLD-OUT SHOW AT FONDA THEATER WAS AN INTIMATE NIGHT OF MUSIC THAT THRILLED FANS

Bedroom pop sensation Clario has expanded her musical palette since she burst on the scene with a far more sophisticated sound, now incorporating 60s and 70s jazz, rock, and folk in the sonic mix. Thus, it also moves into a more decadent indie pop direction.

On Saturday night, September 7th, one of the multiple nights she performed at the Fonda Theater, Clairo held court from the stage like a young, beautiful princess in a long, white, flowy dress.

She spoke periodically with grace and kindness to her adoring audience, and every song was greeted with a unison of enthusiastic applause and consistent sing-alongs.

The concertgoers ranged in their 20s and younger, along with some parents in attendance who took photos through the 90-minute set and captured every moment onstage with videos.

What also stood out was the eclectic music background one could hear before Clairo and company appeared. The tone was set in that this reviewer felt Clairo had far more sophisticated tastes than expected.

I can’t say I have ever seen a band take the stage, sit down, relax as a group, and pour themselves drinks. Then get up and play. It showed that as people and collective individuals, they would do things on their own time, pace, and terms.

Speaking of the band, Clario was accompanied by an exceptional five-piece group on guitars, bass, and vintage instruments like moods, keyboards, drums, flute, and saxophone.

Clario herself is a gifted multi-instrumentalist. Her voice is melodic yet slight but sweet and soothing.

The well-rounded and expansive set list included material from all three of her studio releases: Immunity, Sling, and Charmed. “Bags,” “Flaming Hot Cheetos,” “Nomad,” “Terrapin,” “Glory Of Snow,” and “Amoeba” were among the many highlights of the 20-song set.

Clario inspires her fans, and it’s obvious how connected they feel toward her based on this moving show at the Fonda Theater.

Her songwriting touches on many things and has grown with life experience, including her self-discovery, personal evolution, and the fluidity of sexuality.

The true gift Clario has imparted to her legions of faith followers is to embrace who they are.

There were many types of expressions at the Fonda Theater among the young men and women in the audience.

The alternative rap act Paris Texas opened for Clario. She gets big kudos for exposing an entirely different genre and energy to her audience that fully “dug” it, immediately took to the music, and showed them an immediate and positive response. They showered massive respect and love for the lively, ballsy three-piece act.

Paris, Texas, gave a strong performance and pumped the crowd up.

They have an album called Mid Air and have toured nationally and internationally to support it.
