BEARINGS CRITICIZE THE INSTANT GRATIFICATION ERA IN THEIR NEW SINGLE “QUICK RELEASE”

Let’s face it, we’re all suckers for a good “Quick Release.” Pop-punkers Bearings candidly criticize the status quo in their new single, Of the Same Name. What happened to doing it for the love of the game? Numbers, from social media engagements to the lack of commas in our bank accounts, seem to drive creative endeavors. Bearings suggests it’s time we defy these expectations. Once we remove the desire to be “special,” maybe we’ll finally be happier.

“Quick Release” is marked by the world’s catchiest guitar riff, met happily mirrored by a gritty, low bassline. Of course, the single offers phenomenal hooks, but that doesn’t divert from its critical message.

“I don’t need no diamonds, I do all this shit for free.”

That’s the mission statement of a majority of creatives. Underpaid and overworked, one must pursue music industry gigs with insanity guiding the way. However, it does help when the world’s hookiest beat backs up these thoughts.

I do agree with Bearings’ second sentiment within the song, too: We should all know way less about each other.
