Arizona heavyweights DED have unveiled a brand-new single and video, Purpose: Be Myself,” the latest track from their forthcoming album Resent, due out September 19 via UNFD.

Since exploding onto the scene with their 2017 debut Mis•an•thrope, DED have carved out a reputation for blending nu-metal grit with modern heaviness, balancing pummeling riffs, feral screams, and surprisingly melodic hooks. Their upcoming full-length Resent looks to continue that trajectory while pushing further into themes of identity, anger, and catharsis.

"'Purpose: Be Myself' was the last song that we laid down for the new album RESENT," shares Cotela. "We had so many songs that we had written internally as a band, and we thought, 'Let's mix it up a little bit, push ourselves and swing for just one more and get a fresh take on some vibes.'"

The new single “Purpose: Be Myself” arrives with a striking video that captures the raw emotion behind the track. Musically, it’s classic DED: heavy, groove-driven verses that explode into a massive, anthemic chorus. Lyrically, it speaks to authenticity and self-determination; an empowering call to embrace individuality in a world quick to impose labels. The visual leans into that intensity, cutting between ferocious band performance shots and moments of stark, self-reflective imagery.

For fans, “Purpose: Be Myself” is a clear indication of what Resent will bring to the table. It’s both brutally heavy and unapologetically direct, a combination that has always defined DED’s sound but feels sharper than ever in this new era. With their signing to UNFD and a new record on the horizon, the band appears ready to cement their place among modern heavy music’s leading voices.

Resent arrives September 19 on UNFD. Until then, the “Purpose: Be Myself” video is streaming everywhere now.
