ONCE UPON A TIME BUSH PERFORMED AT THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM - HERE'S HOW IT WENT

Being a 1999 baby myself, I have been super fortunate to have been exposed to various types of music because of my parents. Rock band Bush happens to be a band my father introduced me to, so when the chance to see them perform came up, I jumped at the opportunity. The Hollywood Palladium has hosted various iconic artists like David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix. Hitting that stage to perform in front of fans must be an experience all on its own.
Local Los Angeles band Starcrawler took the stage as the opener. Their music consists of explosive, chaotic sounds filled with screams; an energy bunny type of stage presence; and a female lead singer who simply can rock the stage like any legend before her.
Arrow De Wilde (the lead singer) shouted at the Bush fans during their set, saying, “Come on millennials, get that heart racing!" and telling them to open the pit and jump. The energy was met, and the fans cheered and headbanged to their songs “I Love LA," "Roadkill," and “Stranded”.
My favorite part about their set, besides Arrow throwing herself on the stage filled with music rage and possession, was seeing a child of about 6 or 7 rocking a Starcrawler tote bag on the shoulders of her father, head banging her little horn rock hands in the air. Starcrawler is definitely a band made for all ages, and it's nice to see a female rock lead singer owning the stage and having the power to make the audience hers.
Bush finally takes the stage. The lights have dimmed, and some red stage lights tease the crowd as the drummer takes the stage, playing the opening beats to their first song. The phones go up; someone is already crowd surfing; the alcohol cups hit the floor; “Who is the angel?” “Who is the whore?” lyrics ring out, and the crowd goes crazy. Bush played a total of 16 songs, ranging from all of their albums through the years. They performed songs like “Flowers on a Grave," “1000 Years," “Heavy is the Ocean,” and “More than Machines”.
Lead singer of Bush, Gavin Rossdale took a moment in the show to thank the audience for their support over the years. He also recognized how special it was for them as a band to play at the Hollywood Palladium, the same stage many of the bands they were inspired by have played. He also mentioned how much they love Los Angeles, to the point where they are now Los Angeles transplants and now call it their home.
Bush ends the show with 3 encore songs, specifically "Glycerine,” which was the song the fans were shouting for. The beautiful lyrics are sung by the fans and Rossdale: “Don't let the days go by…. could have been easier on you…. “I couldn't change, though I wanted to.” Glycerine was a perfect song to end the night with. Until next time, Bush.
