AC/DC’S STEVIE YOUNG HOSPITALIZED IN BUENOS AIRES AHEAD OF SOLD-OUT SHOWS
Some unexpected news coming out of the AC/DC camp.
Guitarist Stevie Young has been hospitalized in Buenos Aires just days before the band is set to play a run of massive, sold-out shows in the city. According to statements from the tour’s promoter, Young was “not feeling well” and was admitted as a precaution while doctors run a full series of tests.
The good news, he’s reportedly doing okay. A spokesperson said he’s in good spirits and still planning to take the stage when the band kicks off their Buenos Aires dates.
AC/DC are currently on their ongoing Power Up world tour and are scheduled to play three huge shows at River Plate Stadium on March 23, 27, and 31, all of which sold out quickly.
For context, this is a big moment for the band in Argentina. Their last run there in 2009 pulled in nearly 200,000 fans, and the demand this time around has been just as intense.
Stevie Young has been holding down rhythm guitar duties since 2014, stepping in for his uncle Malcolm Young, one of the band’s founding members. Since then, he’s been a key part of keeping AC/DC’s sound exactly where it needs to be, tight, loud, and unmistakably theirs.
As of now, the shows are still expected to go on as planned, but all eyes are on updates from the band in the coming days.
