HOWLING GIANT UNLEASH FIRST SINGLE “CANYONS” AND ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM CRUCIBLE & RUIN
Stoner-prog titans Howling Giant have roared back to life with the release of their crushing new single “Canyons,” the first track from their just-announced upcoming album, Crucible & Ruin. The album is due out October 31st, 2025, and based on this opening salvo, it’s going to be a massive one.
“Canyons” is everything fans have come to love from Howling Giant—thick, thunderous riffs, soaring vocal harmonies, and sprawling, prog-infused arrangements that feel equally cosmic and crushing. The track blends psychedelia and sludge with laser-focused precision, creating a sound that’s as cinematic as it is heavy. If Dune had a house band, this might be it.
Lyrically, the song seems to grapple with themes of isolation, inner struggle, and the vastness of both external and internal landscapes—classic Howling Giant territory, delivered with even more depth and ambition.
Crucible & Ruin will mark the band’s first full-length album since their acclaimed 2019 debut The Space Between Worlds. Since then, Howling Giant have steadily built a cult following through relentless touring, split releases, and a reputation for being one of the most dynamic live bands in heavy music.
If “Canyons” is any indication of what’s to come, Crucible & Ruin won’t just be a return—it’ll be a leveling up.
