SILVERSTEIN TEAM UP WITH DAYSEEKER’S RORY RODRIGUEZ FOR EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE “DRAIN THE BLOOD”

In a bold stand against the rise of artificial intelligence, Canadian post-hardcore heavyweights Silverstein have dropped their latest single, “Drain the Blood,” featuring guest vocals from Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker—and it’s a visceral, emotional powerhouse. The track is the second preview from their upcoming album Pink Moon, set to arrive September 12 via UNFD.

“Drain the Blood” is a hypercharged anthem that blends Silverstein’s signature melodic grit with cranked-up intensity, culminating in a breakdown that hits like a freight train. Rodriguez’s entry is nothing short of electric—the line “Can I be honest now? I don’t see a way we get beyond this hell” cuts deep, his voice delivering both frustration and surrender in equal measure.

Guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau describes the track’s thematic core as a rejection of soulless automation: “keep your A.I. out of my art”. His vision was clear from the beginning—retain the messy, unpredictable nuances that make music feel truly human. That’s what gives the song its raw edge.

Frontman Shane Told echoes that sentiment: “‘Drain the Blood’ is our response to the growing fear that machines are starting to replace what makes music … human.” The accompanying video captures that dystopian tension, with scenes shot in an eerie studio setting and along the L.A. River, evoking sci-fi references from Black Mirror to Terminator 2.

“Drain the Blood” marks the second release from Pink Moon, the second half of Silverstein’s ambitious 16-track double album. This chapter, recorded in the Joshua Tree high desert, explores what Rousseau calls “unexpected and a little out-of-context” musical choices—deliberately pushing past comfort zones. The effort pays off: crisp production, emotional heft, and a clear resistance to staleness. Preorder the album by clicking HERE.

With Silverstein celebrating their 25th anniversary this year—capping it off with a headline tour dubbed “25 Years Of Noise”—the trio of Pink Moon, the new single, and the guest spot from Rodriguez feels like a stirring affirmation of their ongoing relevance.

Fans of unfiltered emotion, propulsive breakdowns, and post-hardcore with a soul will find “Drain the Blood” to be a hard-hitting statement, one that reaffirms what makes Silverstein essential in today’s landscape.
