WHO’S OUT “THE DOOR” IN CHLOE ECHO’S NEW INDIE ROCK SONG

There is nothing I love more than women who rock and Chloe Echo rocks! Knock, knock, who’s there? Chloe Echo with a hit song!

The story about the person behind the door is about Chloe’s ex-roommate from college, who was a musical theater partygoer who was very chaotic and very reckless. The storytelling is clear within the lyrics, and Chloe does an amazing job with her storytelling skills and lyricism. Considering her time with her roommate was less than satisfactory, she was able to laugh about the experience and write a song about how her roommate almost burned their whole apartment down due to a seance gone wrong.

My favorite lyrics of the song are the most detailed about the said roommate:

“A vinyl spun

Cheap speakers were looping Chet Baker for Hours

Hung on his wall

A poster of Marilyn smoking with style

His lipstick kissing her smile

Black eyeliner under his eyes

He was dropping acid on weekday nights

All the lights were replaced with red.”

Throughout the song, we hear Chloe repeating that her roommate is out the door once again, knocking and being a nuisance, until the very last part of the song, where she says, “I’m out the door.” It’s a full-circle moment, a start-to-finish within the story, and a very entertaining story at that.
