PATIENCE PAYS OFF IN BIG SLEEP’S NEW SONG “CRUDE”

Big Sleep released “Crude,” an entrancing, psychedelic indie rock tune with a payoff well worth the beautiful buildup. Acting as the first released single from their upcoming album, ‘Holy Show,’ the track acts as a bright window into the band’s future.

This song is incredible, starting with the wavy guitar strums that guide the track and give it that psychedelic crown. It has a pumping, upbeat bass that projects bright tones, keeping a hopeful vibe going. 

The vocalist, with his echoing timbre, perfectly meshes with the guitar's consistent strum. I really love the fun, picky sounds that create a little background depth. 

Each moment, starting with “early in the afternoon…”, provides clever, catchy moments to the song and adds a little bit of contrast to the steady beat.

Later, he asks, “Are you dreaming?” in a super emotional, raw, straining voice. All you can do is close your eyes and feel the strength being projected from the intense passion oozing out of this moment.

Each instrument is slowly layered until it explodes into a mesh of sounds that will make you melt into your seat. Everything flawlessly comes together, crescendoing into a beautiful mosaic of each unique sound that got a chance to shine once before. As it continues, the guitar gets more poignant; everything just gets amped up.

With a little over 5 minutes, patience with “Crude” will reward you wonderfully. It’s one of those songs that edges you a little bit, keeping you on your toes and engaged as you inch closer and closer to breaking down. As enchanting as it is captivating, this is a must-listen from Big Sleep and an excellent sign for their upcoming album.
