MODERN WOMAN RELEASE NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO “NEPTUNE GIRL”

London’s Modern Woman returns with “Neptune Girl,” a swirling, shape-shifting single that feels both intimate and unearthly. The track expands on the band’s art rock and post-punk foundation, leaning into atmosphere without sacrificing momentum. It is patient but never passive, building in subtle waves before cresting into something quietly powerful.

“Neptune Girl” drifts in on a hypnotic groove, anchored by elastic bass and percussion that feels almost ritualistic. Guitars shimmer and fracture around the edges, creating a sense of motion that mirrors the song’s oceanic title. The vocal delivery is cool but emotionally loaded, floating above the instrumentation while pulling the listener deeper into its orbit. There is restraint here, but it is deliberate. Every element feels placed with intention.

The accompanying video leans fully into that otherworldly energy. Shot in claymation, it is weird, tactile, and genuinely awesome to watch. The handmade textures and surreal visuals give the song an added layer of personality, turning “Neptune Girl” into something that feels alive in a way only clay animation can. It is imaginative without being distracting, amplifying the mood rather than overpowering it.

“Neptune Girl” arrives ahead of Modern Woman’s debut album, Johnny’s Dreamworld, out May 1 via One Little Independent Records. If this single is any indication, the record will dive even deeper into the band’s immersive, carefully constructed sonic world.

“Neptune Girl” is available now on all streaming platforms, with the official video out alongside the release.
