TAME IMPALA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM DEADBEAT — ARRIVES OCTOBER 17
After weeks of cryptic teasers and back-to-back single drops, Kevin Parker has officially announced Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, Deadbeat, set to launch on October 17 via Columbia Records.
This announcement caps off a summer of electrifying returns, with the journey opening in July as Tame Impala released “End of Summer”—a seven-minute acid-house odyssey that marked Parker’s triumphant return under Columbia. Just yesterday, fans got a funk-infused follow-up titled “Loser,” complete with a visually striking video featuring actor-musician Joe Keery.
In the press release unveiling Deadbeat, Parker describes the album as “wickedly potent club-psych explorations,” deeply rooted in bush doof culture and the rave scene of Western Australia—a nod to his roots and an indication that Deadbeat may be a heady, dance-inspired journey through his psychedelic vision.
For Tame Impala, this marks a pivotal return to album form, five years after The Slow Rush (2020). Since then, Parker has stayed busy earning a Grammy for his Justice collaboration, contributing to major film soundtracks, and touring with Dua Lipa.
Deadbeat is available for pre-order now, including multiple exclusive vinyl variants—from limited runs to Indie Record Store editions and a collectible cassette edition.
