LOCAL NOMAD SPEAKS DIRECTLY TO THE SUB-PAR KARENS OF THE WORLD ON "KAREN"

Pulsating synth, bouncy melodies and layered in 80s influence but with a new age twist, the song “Karen” by Local Nomad tackles head-on, well...the Karens of the world.

The most noticeable detail of Local Nomad is that they make a sound of yesteryear and blend in the high production of today for a style that is both familiar yet new. Lyrically this song is as relevant as it could be in 2020. A clear picture is being drawn with the Karens of the world, closed-minded and argumentative. In the chorus, the hook begs for Karen to change her ways but she can keep her name. All things considered, that’s a fair exchange.

Personally, my favorite kind of songwriting is a progressing story and the bridge does exactly that.

“I had a dream that we were married with some kids. We finally figured out what our parents never did. That we can argue and not tear our world apart. Though I know that it’s not perfect it’s a start”

By the end of the song I have been hooked with simple and pleasing music yet finding myself echoing the plea of the message: let’s put aside the hate and division, let Karens have their name back, and start figuring out what our parents never did.
