TURNSTILE ROCKS SOLD OUT GIG AT THE SHRINE EXPO HALL IN LOS ANGELES

Turnstile is the hottest band on Earth right now. This Baltimore hardcore punk ensemble has spent the past ten years climbing their way to the top of the rock world with incendiary live performances, killer tunes, and being all-around chill guys. The band stormed through Los Angeles last week, touring in support of their milestone 2021 album, GLOW ON; playing two massive sold-out shows. Get Some Magazine was fortunate enough to document the magic that took place under the roof of the Shrine Expo Hall in the heart of DTLA this past Friday.

The venue was packed to the brim with Turnstile’s diverse and hella enthusiastic fan base. There were scores of amped-up zoomers in the front lines along the barricade ready to sing and dance all night, mixed in with veteran millennials and gen-xers chugging their beers along the perimeter. Rock radio fans stood side by side with hardcore aficionados, metal heads, skate punks, and random folks in pajamas, everyone was beyond stoked once Turnstile hit the stage and kicked off the night with “HOLIDAY.”

The band’s set consisted of a huge chunk of new material off GLOW ON, as well as a handful of tracks from 2018’s Time & Space and 2015’s Nonstop Feeling. Highlights of the evening included the crowd’s massive singalong during the chorus of “BLACKOUT” and everyone in the venue losing their collective minds during the saxophone solo in “ALIEN LOVE CALL.” One of the most surreal moments of the night was witnessing drummer Daniel Fang’s epic drum solo. Watching a wildly talented musician shred their instrument atop an elevated riser on a massive stage who just some years back was playing tiny clubs/halls/churches was all sorts of mind blowing.

The day after their DTLA show, Turnstile played a festival gig supporting Deftones in San Diego. Next year they’ll be touring with Blink-182 on their massive reunion tour. Turnstile continues clawing their way toward world domination, one concert stage at a time.
