TRAGEDY AT ASTROWORLD: 8 DEAD, HUNDREDS INJURED AT HOUSTON MUSIC FEST
Eight people died and hundreds more were injured while attending the first day of rapper Travis Scott’s annual Astroworld Music Festival in Houston yesterday. According to local authorities, the chaos started shortly before Travis Scott’s set and only worsened once the Houston native began performing, during which the crowd “began to push and surge towards the front of the stage, which caused the people in the front to be compressed.” The sold out crowd of 50,000 people surged toward the front of the venue, resulting in scores of injuries and sadly, eight confirmed casualties.
This years edition of Astroworld got off to a rough start when footage of an unruly crowd breaking down a fence and trampling several concert goers went viral earlier in the day and has since become a grim omen of what would take place later in the evening.
