TIGERS JAW PROVED WHY THEIR FANS ARE AMONG THE MOST LOYAL IN MUSIC

WORDS AND PHOTOS BY SHILOH SALAMANCA

Tigers Jaw always seem to bring out some of the most passionate and loyal fans around. Every venue they play turns into a choir of voices screaming along to every word, whether it's a beloved deep cut or a newer favorite. Their support acts also have a knack for setting the tone, and both Bleary Eyed and Pool Kids more than rose to the occasion.

Bleary Eyed kicked off the evening with a dreamy shoegaze set that felt almost otherworldly. Soft, hazy vocals floated over walls of guitars and crashing drums, while the fog and moody lighting transformed the room into something ethereal. It was the perfect calm before the storm.

Pool Kids took that energy and cranked it up several notches. The crowd immediately came alive, with mosh pits opening up and crowd surfers flying overhead as fans got warmed up for the main event. Frontwoman Christine Goodwyne fully embraced the chaos, crowd surfing near the end of the set before making her way through the packed room, leaving fans energized and wanting more.

And then Tigers Jaw took the stage.

The headliners delivered a powerhouse set packed with fan favorites and deep cuts alike, sending the crowd into a frenzy. By the end of the night, most fans had screamed themselves hoarse. As the deeper cuts made their appearance, the room transformed into a sea of movement, with crowd surfers constantly making their way across the venue. People collided, stumbled, and occasionally caught an accidental elbow to the head, but the sense of community never disappeared. Every time someone fell, they were picked right back up.

This was easily one of the wildest shows I've photographed in a long time. Capturing the night required navigating flying bodies, endless movement, and more than a little blood and sweat. What made it truly special, though, was how intimate it all felt. There was no barricade separating the bands from the fans. Everyone was packed tightly against the stage, creating the kind of up-close, personal experience that reminds you why live music is so special in the first place.

Some shows are memorable because of the production. Others, because of the performance. This one was memorable because it felt like everyone in the room was part of it.
