THRICE TAKES THE WILTERN BY STORM AS SOLD-OUT CROWD EMBRACES THE EPITOME OF MELODIC HARDCORE

Anyone with a brain knows that being in a band for over 20 years is an accomplishment. Now, take that tenure and add in the fact that your original lineup is intact… holy hell that’s impressive. On top of that, you’ve sold out almost every 20th-anniversary show in the world for the ‘The Artist in the Ambulance’ tour. Now that’s some dope ass shit. Congrats Thrice, you dudes rock. If you were lucky enough to see one of their performance at the Wiltern late last week, you know as well as us that these SoCal dudes still have it, and maybe even more so.

Kicking off the evening was Holy Fawn. Unfortunately, their music didn’t captivate us on Spotify therefore we intentionally missed their set. Although rumor has it they’re really good dudes, their music has yet to land intriguingly in our ears.

Thrice took the stage circa 9:45 PM to a dimly lit, packed-to-the-brim Wiltern. The crowd was rapturous and ready for the foursome to inject their feverish music across the venue’s airwaves. First up was “Cold Cash And Cold Hearts”, track number one of the band’s epic LP. Bodies started surfing across the crowd as the band went into “Under A Killing Moon” and “All That’s Left”, both massively popular songs.

The lighting for “Silhouette” was just that, a silhouette, yet in beautiful form. Frontman Dustin Kensrue ripped through the song as if his hands were on fire. You see, that’s the reason why Thrice stands the test of time - these dudes perform 20-year-old tracks with the same amount of infectious passion as if it was their first time.

“Stare At The Sun”, “Paper Tigers” and “Hoods On Peregrine” kept the crowd singing loudly. As the title track, “The Artist In The Ambulance” came on, the energy in the Wiltern hit a new level. Looking around you wouldn’t be able to find a single square foot of space.

Closing up the stellar night was an assortment of tracks from various albums including “Black Honey”, “Deadbolt”, “The Earth Will Shake” and “The Long Defeat”.

Thrice is not just a band; they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of music. With their unique blend of post-hardcore, alternative rock, and experimental sound, Thrice has consistently delivered powerful and captivating performances.
