THE WEEKND SET TO HEADLINE SPOTIFY’S EXCLUSIVE “BILLIONS CLUB LIVE” CONCERT
The Weeknd stands as Spotify’s first and most fitting choice to headline its inaugural Billions Club Live, given his record-breaking number of songs surpassing 1 billion streams on the platform.
2024 has been a landmark year for the Canadian superstar. After breaking the record in September for the most tracks to exceed 1 billion streams on Spotify, the streaming giant announced on Wednesday (Dec. 11) that The Weeknd will headline its first-ever Billions Club Live concert later this month.
Scheduled for December 17 in Los Angeles, the exclusive event will celebrate The Weeknd’s most devoted fans. Attendees can expect live performances of his chart-topping hits, including “Blinding Lights” — his first song to cross the 1 billion stream threshold — along with fan favorites like “The Hills,” “After Hours,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and more.
“Spotify’s ability to connect artists with their fans is unmatched,” said Monica Damashek, Spotify’s head of artist and label partnerships, in a statement to Variety. “When the idea first struck to bring the Billions Club to life, we knew we wanted to celebrate both the artist and the fans simultaneously. The Weeknd was the ideal choice — he’s the artist with the most songs in the Billions Club and has an unwavering global fanbase. Our teams collaborated closely to ensure the concert reflected our partnership over the years.

As reported by REVOLT, The Weeknd ranked as Spotify’s second most-streamed artist globally in 2024, trailing only Taylor Swift. His third studio album, Starboy, remained one of the year’s most-streamed projects despite being released nearly six years ago.
The Grammy-winning artist is also set to conclude his Dawn FM-After Hours trilogy with the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow on January 24, 2025. The rollout began in September with the single “Dancing In The Flames,” followed by collaborations with Playboi Carti on “Timeless” and Anitta on "São Paulo."
The upcoming album will accompany a psychological thriller of the same name, with The Weeknd starring alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.
