THE STARTING LINE PAINTS THE NOVO IN MOOD AND MOTION

Last night marked my first time shooting at The Novo in Downtown LA, a venue that immediately impressed with its layout and atmosphere. The show featured support from Stateside, followed by Finch, leading up to headliner The Starting Line.

Stateside opened the night with a raw grunge energy, setting a gritty tone that was immediately captivating. Finch followed, continuing the grunge vibe with a mix of intensity and melodic interplay that translated well even under minimal stage lighting. Both acts offered a challenging but rewarding opportunity to experiment with shadows and contrast, emphasizing the moody aesthetics of their sets.

The Starting Line closed the night with a performance that was both energetic and emotionally charged, presenting a unique challenge for photography. The combination of dynamic stage presence and moody lighting required careful attention to timing, composition, and exposure. Working with minimal lighting pushed me to focus on capturing the essence of the performance—the highs, the raw moments, and the subtle emotional nuances—without losing the atmosphere of the venue.

Overall, it was an exhilarating night of photography, filled with grunge textures, intense performances, and the rewarding challenge of working with limited light in a new environment.
