THE SMASHING PUMPKINS ANNOUNCE “THE RATS IN A CAGE” FALL 2026 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Thirty years later, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is getting the stage it deserves.
The Smashing Pumpkins have officially unveiled The Rats In A Cage Tour, a Fall 2026 North American run that doubles as both a celebration and a full-circle moment for one of alternative rock’s most defining records. The tour will feature a unique two-set format, honoring the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness while also drawing from nearly four decades of hits, deep cuts, and darker material that have shaped the band’s legacy.
Kicking off September 30, the tour will hit major cities across the U.S. and Canada, bringing a show that’s designed to feel less like a standard setlist and more like a curated experience. One half rooted in the sprawling, emotional weight of Mellon Collie, the other spanning the band’s evolution, from early-era staples to more shadowy corners of their catalog.

To set the tone, the band recently previewed the concept with a “Funeral Requiem for ZERO” and a surprise performance at the Hollywood Legion Theater, hinting at a more theatrical, immersive approach for this run. If that’s any indication, this won’t be a nostalgia play. It’s a recontextualization.
Adding to the momentum, The Smashing Pumpkins are also set to headline Lollapalooza this year, marking their first time topping the bill since 1994. It’s another nod to their staying power and a reminder of just how long their influence has stretched.
Tickets will be available for Citi and Verizon presales starting on Tuesday, May 19, at 10 am local. Additional presales will run throughout the week leading up to the general on-sale, which begins on Thursday, May 21, at 10 am local on smashingpumpkins.com!
