It’s a big year for indie-rock group The Beaches. They’re gearing up to perform at Coachella this year, along with a whopping lineup including Lady Gaga and Green Day. All of this is fantastic, but they decided to up the ante by announcing an LP, ‘No Hard Feelings,’ along with its lead single, “Last Girls At The Party.”
The energized single encapsulates the rush of an unforgettable night out with your friends—at least on the surface. “Last Girls At The Party” details an authentic experience for the band, wild and free as the instrumental soars with fervor. They don’t mention any deeper meanings correlated to the song, but to me, it’s about living in the moment, perhaps clinging to youth while you can.
Sonically, the track is very summer 2016, where carefree mindsets overtook everything. People are craving that kind of nostalgia right now. Understandably so, as everything feels uncertain; however, what you can count on is making the most of what you have while you still have it.
“Last Girls At The Party” is a fantastic start for The Beaches’ forthcoming record. The single suggests that ‘No Hard Feelings’ will feel like a summer breeze rushing through your hair as you cruise along Sunset Blvd. in your best friend’s convertible.
