Small Shake has a bit of an agenda. Sure, she cares about her friend. Small Shake wants the best for her, which is to be in healthy, fulfilling, loving, mutually beneficial relationships. But at the same time, the Los Angeles via Seattle, WA singer/songwriter/guitarist realizes she is falling for her friend. Small Shakes has her epiphany/realization that she will genuinely recognize and cherish everything about her, and no one she has dated ever will. This friend may be gay or bisexual, or Small Shake hopes she is and will take the plunge with her, “so to speak.” One could say love has no label or sexual identification, i.e., we love who we love, too. The message is loud and clear, regardless. The track of music belies the strength and plaintiveness of the lyrics. It’s tranquil, pretty, gentle, and melodic, with beautiful, intricate guitar lines that weave peacefully and quickly out of this serenely arranged song. Small Shake's sweet and tender vocals effortlessly float on top of the calm exterior and not-so-fragile bones of “Toxic.”
