SOHN CONFRONTS LOVE’S IMPERMANENCE WITH HAUNTING DOUBLE RELEASE “IS LOVE PERMANENT, OR DOES IT EVAPORATE WITH US? / SEVA”

SOHN has always had a knack for turning existential weight into soundscapes that feel both intimate and infinite, and his latest two-part release, “Is Love Permanent, Or Does It Evaporate With Us? / Seva”, may be one of his most poignant explorations yet.

The first track, “Is Love Permanent, Or Does It Evaporate With Us?”, opens like a question whispered into the void. Sparse keys and atmospheric textures hang in the background, giving SOHN’s falsetto the space to ache without interruption. The production never rushes — instead, it expands slowly, like a thought spiraling outward. The lyrics wrestle with the fragility of human connection, hovering in that space between longing and inevitability. It feels like standing in an empty room after someone you love has walked out — the silence carries as much weight as the sound.

Then comes “Seva”, a tonal shift but not a contradiction. Where the first track aches, this one breathes. Rooted in the Sanskrit concept of selfless service, “Seva” feels like a meditation put to music. Soft pulses echo like a heartbeat, layered with ethereal synths that suggest release and renewal. It’s not so much a resolution to the question posed in the first track as it is a quiet acceptance: maybe love doesn’t need to be permanent to matter. Maybe the act of giving, of serving, of existing in the moment is where its permanence lies.

Together, these two tracks feel like two sides of the same coin — uncertainty and surrender, grief and grace. SOHN doesn’t hand the listener answers; instead, he creates a sonic space for the questions themselves to breathe. It’s the kind of release that lingers long after it ends, inviting you to sit with your own impermanence and, just maybe, find beauty in it.
