Southern California hardcore punks Death Lens return with “Debt Collector,” a tense, fast-moving new single that doubles down on the band’s raw urgency while offering a sharper sense of intent.

Arriving ahead of their upcoming album What’s Left Now?, due April 24 via Epitaph Records, the track serves as the record’s closing statement, and it hits like one. From the jump, “Debt Collector” feels restless and immediate, with jagged guitars and a driving rhythm section that rarely lets up. It’s chaotic by design, but never out of control.

Vocally, Bryan Torres rides that edge between frantic and focused, delivering lines that feel like they’re spilling out in real time. That tension is at the core of the track’s message. “The enslavement of society and just having to pay, pay, pay. And there’s really no way out,” Torres explains, framing the song around the inescapable pressure of modern life.

He expands on that idea further, noting, “‘Debt Collector’ came from that constant pressure of feeling like you’re already behind before the day even starts. It’s fast and chaotic on purpose, like your thoughts when you’re trying to stay afloat in a system that’s designed to drain you. I wanted it to feel like panic, but also like fighting back, like you’re sprinting even when you know something’s always chasing you.”

That sense of urgency carries through every element of the track. It’s scrappy, loud, and emotionally charged, but still anchored by a structure that keeps it from unraveling completely. Death Lens continues to blur the lines between indie, punk, and hardcore, finding a balance between melody and abrasion that keeps things compelling.

The single also arrives with a music video directed by Torres himself, marking his first time behind the camera in that role. “It was also the first music video I wrote and directed myself, which made it feel even more personal,” he says. “Like I could fully translate that anxiety visually, not just sonically.”

The band is currently on the road across North America with Drug Church and White Reaper, and will head overseas this summer for a run of European festivals, including Mighty Sounds Festival and Outbreak Festival.
