RAZOR BRAIDS IS BACK WITH THEIR GARAGE ROCK ANTHEM “BIG WAVE”

Razor Braids trusted the GSM team with their work a few months back, earning a few new fans in the process. Their dedication to garage rock and true DIY music is admirable. Now, their single, “Big Wave” showcases the group’s diverse skillset.

This single appears to be a part of a larger body of work, even without any other context to prove that. “Big Wave” is a chilled-out surprise compared to the group’s last submission, which is, truthfully, always impressive to see in a group. Sure, heavy-hitting dancefloor hits are fun to receive but the earnest vulnerability is often more so.

“Big Wave” highlights a higher-range lead vocal than what we heard previously. The vocal melody in the hook flows just like an actual wave, effortlessly moving through the notes like it was no big deal.

Overall, the mix does an impeccable job of proving that “less is more.” These chilled-out moments separate groups from the feared one-hit-wonder mindset and instead cultivate true artistry. Discographies that are willing and excited to explore are always ones I gravitate towards.
