PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS DESTROYED THE TERAGRAM BALLROOM IN LOS ANGELES
The gargantuan British stoner/doom metal punks in Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, shook the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles this past weekend, to its very core. To say Pigsx7 are a loud band, would be an understatement. This was easily one of the loudest concerts we’ve ever attended, packed to the gills with metal fiends, rockers, and people who enjoy getting their spines rattled. The band opened with “GNT” off 2018’s King of Cowards and initiated a fun night of headbanging and beer chugging amongst the crowd.
Frontman Matt Baty’s energy levels soared off the charts, grappling with his microphone cord all evening while screaming with conviction and pacing around the stage like a madman. With a lumbering rhythm section and guitarists cranking out the heaviest, fuzzed-out riffs imaginable, Mr. Baty’s stage antics help bring an air of giddiness to Pigsx7 bludgeoning assault. Much obliged to the complimentary ear plugs that were made available to all guests and the signs printed around the venue warning of the band’s penchant for shattering ear drums. Did we mention this was a loud show? You could feel the bass lines rippling in your bones even at the back bar.
Promoting their recent album, 2023’s Land of Sleeper, Pigsx7 played a ton of new material like “Ultimate Hammer” which prompted a raucous circle pit on the floor. Despite the sonic beatdown and the looming Monday morning buzzkill, the crowd stayed firmly in the band’s sweaty palms all night. Who could blame them, it’s not every day you get to catch one of the wildest live bands on Earth ripping it up on stage before your eyes.
