PERFECTLY UNPREDICTABLE: SILVER LIZ CREATES EPIC SOUNDSCAPE IN “THROUGH THE TREES”
“Through The Trees” by Silver Liz is a cosmic experience that combines ethereal electronic soundscapes with beautiful acoustic tones. The Brooklyn husband-wife duo truly shines in this inherently unique track, which feels like waves crashing over a foggy ocean.
It has a melancholy voice, one that whispers out the sound of longing through an atmospheric sound. There is a haunting uniqueness to it, as electric synths come in, providing a unique twist to the song. Imagine driving through the Redwoods on a foggy morning, the sun barely peaking through the car window, listening to that transition – absolutely otherworldly.
I feel some Beach House vibes as the crystallized noises play throughout the song. That acoustic guitar sound, as it picks up and during the halfway mark, is truly addictive. The track can be pretty unpredictable at times, but that works in its favor. I’m almost reminded of the electronic parts of Broadcast songs at some point. It leaves you on the edge of your seat, even with every listen.
Lyrically, sounds of intimacy are harnessed through the authentic description of longing love. It’s echoing out to a reminiscing part, looking back at the past and feeling this love through the wind “through the trees.”
It concludes with an absolutely breathtaking set of voices that feel like you’re in a giant cathedral, listening to the orchestral sounds that overtake you.
“Through The Trees” is an incredibly delicate yet powerful song that showcases intense shoegaze and dream pop influences.
