Australian metalcore titans Parkway Drive have stormed back onto the scene with their first new music in three years: the thunderous single “Sacred.” Released today alongside a visually striking music video directed by Third Eye Visuals, the track marks a powerful return for the band since their 2022 album Darker Still.
“Sacred” is a ferocious anthem that blends crushing riffs with soaring melodies, showcasing the band's signature blend of aggression and melody. Vocalist Winston McCall describes the song as an “anthemic wrecking ball of positive energy,” aiming to inspire listeners amidst a world often overshadowed by negativity.
“Our lives and the way we exist in the world has been pushed further and further through the lenses and frames of negativity and hopelessness,” McCall explains. “Obsession with everything we lack, everything we hate, everyone we blame, everything that keeps us down. We sell the unique parts of us most precious just to buy back manufactured pieces of self in order that we may feel whole again. ‘Sacred’ is our identity. ‘Sacred’ is our time. Never lose sight and never lose hope.”
The accompanying music video amplifies the song's themes, featuring intense visuals that mirror the track's emotional depth and raw power. Directed by Third Eye Visuals, the video captures the band's dynamic performance energy, offering fans a visceral experience that complements the song's message.
“Sacred” arrives as Parkway Drive embarks on a monumental year, celebrating their 20th anniversary with a series of high-profile performances. The band is set to co-headline the "Summer of Loud" tour across North America, sharing the stage with Beartooth, I Prevail, and Killswitch Engage. The tour kicks off on June 21 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Additionally, Parkway Drive will perform a sold-out symphonic show at the iconic Sydney Opera House this June, a testament to their enduring influence and evolution over two decades. Following this, they will embark on a European arena tour in the fall, joined by fellow Australian heavyweights Thy Art Is Murder and The Amity Affliction.
With “Sacred,” Parkway Drive not only reaffirms their position at the forefront of the metalcore scene but also sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in their storied career.
