“OMWDOWN!” BY GRAVE SECRETS DEALS WITH THE AFTERMATH OF A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP

We’ve all been there. Plenty of us have toxic exes (hi) that have secretly sent us spiraling because they seem perfect on paper. Grave Secrets has evidently spent time thinking about this; their new banger, “OMWDOWN!”, touches on the truth about recovering from a toxic relationship.

Grave Secrets tends to follow a more traditionally punk-rock sound than many of their peers. This song truly takes the cake, though. It still modernizes classic punk sound by adding guitar layers and the low-hanging bassline. “OMWDOWN!” sits at the crosshairs of skatepunk and garage rock, a seamless blend of two unforgettable eras.

Lyrically, the track offers emotional relatability, fitting for a Graveboy Records artist. The Emo Nite label does a great job at merging the gap between legacy artists and current sounds. The writing style in “OMWDOWN!” affirms this thesis, offering both introspection and a healthy dose of melancholia.

Overall, “OMWDOWN!” is Grave Secrets’ best single to date. Their growth since signing with Graveboy Records has been phenomenal. The band was fantastic on their own; they had done a lot of groundwork making a name for themselves in the LA DIY scene. Now, they have a few more resources under their sleeve, and they’re using them to their advantage.
