OHR’S “RUNAWAY” OFFERS A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE EXPERIENCE WITH A VIGOROUS, UPBEAT PERFORMANCE
For “Runaway” and his upcoming album Afterglow, Craig Klein, aka Ohr, combines creative and musical inspiration based on his passion for ‘90s electronica. Chemical Brothers, Andrew Weatherall, and remixes of Primal Scream are other acts that left a sonic imprint on Ohr. The Seattle, WA native also weaves psychedelic-infused touches and rhythms that are sampled. Also, hazy hooks into a meld sharp self-aware exploration tapping into one’s soul that is cathartic and liberating. Though “Runaway” manages to be upbeat, bright sounding and shimmery. Ohr also fed his vocals through a vocoder effect. An innovative accompanying video directed and created by Studio Sparks utilizes adventurous 3D imagery. Ohr, named after a Hebrew word for light and the German electronic label associated with Tangerine Dream, with “Runaway,” made a track of music that is a throwback to decades past. The psych rock he loves is at the forefront with a soundscape twist.
