OCTOPUS KNIFE FIGHT DROPS POLITICALLY-CHARGED ANTHEM “ALREADY BROKEN”

Punk rock has always been a political movement at its core, whether you agree or disagree with a specific side of it notwithstanding. That’s why Octopus Knife Fight’s latest single, a politically-charged earworm, “Already Broken,” makes perfect sense—at least to us.

The idea that “we’re not scared to break it when it’s already broken” runs deep. How many of us have been up at 3 AM with existential dread thanks to the looming reality of the current political climate? No matter how you slice it, it’s not looking great, but music always acts as a comfort…with a light dash of ska to round it out.

Sonically, the track delivers classic punk rock goodness. It’s rough-around-the-edges, but that’s where it gets its charm. The instrumental is tight but free, motivated by intense feelings and real-world problems. From start to finish, “Already Broken” is cathartic—especially the “small hands” bit, my favorite touch. I giggled.

Octopus Knife Garden may be ready to lead the revolution, but they’re just saying what we feel. Their fervent passion for the topic brings hope, even in these unprecedented times…

Personally? I want to live through ONE precedent time, as a treat.
